Chubb Makes Key Leadership Appointments in Surety’s Global and North America Businesses

Chubb Limited, headquartered in Warren, New Jersey, named Steve Haney, vice president, Chubb Group and currently division president of North America surety and chief underwriting officer of global surety, as president and chief underwriting officer (CUO) of global surety.

Haney has executive operating responsibilities for strategy, underwriting, and profit and loss (P&L) across Chubb’s Global Surety business. He has nearly 30 years of underwriting experience and previously served as executive vice president for ACE’s surety business worldwide (now Chubb). Haney joined the company in 1997 as a surety underwriter.

Haney will be succeeded by Teresa Black, executive vice president and chief operating officer of North America surety, who has been promoted to division president of North America surety. Black has executive oversight and P&L responsibility in North America. She has 28 years of insurance industry experience and, most recently, held the role of COO, North America surety. She has over two decades of experience with Chubb and previously served as senior vice president of distribution management, vice president and national segment leader for New York, and assistant vice president of Chubb’s financial lines business.

Chubb also appointed Kim Hare as senior vice president, head of North America property claims, effective August 18. Hare will lead the executive operating responsibilities of the property claims business across North America for both personal and commercial claims. Hare has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, joining Chubb from Farmers 农夫导航, where she most recently served as senior vice president, head of property claims. Before that, she held roles overseeing auto central zone claims, the west zone region, and the national med PIP strategy and operations.

Hare succeeds Tim Barziza, who will retire next April, following over 30 years in the industry, spending the last 22 years at Chubb.

WTW Appoints Consulting and Technology Directors

WTW, appointed Nicholas Carbo, Poojan Shah and Erika Dochney to its insurance consulting and technology (ICT) business in North America.

Carbo joins as senior director, bringing extensive experience from Corebridge Financial and Oliver Wyman. He is based in Florida and focuses on annuity product development, pricing, modeling, and M&A support.

Shah joins as director, previously with PwC, and is based in Chicago. He will advise clients on reinsurance structuring, M&A transactions, actuarial modernization, and regulatory compliance.

Dochney joins as associate director, previously with Lincoln Financial Group and Haven Technologies. Based in Philadelphia, she will focus on life insurance product pricing, underwriting, and assumption development.

HDI Global USA Appoints Aguiar Head of Energy & Power Underwriting US

HDI Global 农夫导航 Company, the U.S. carrier of international corporate & specialty insurer HDI Global SE, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, appointed Fellipe Aguiar as the new head of energy & power underwriting in the U.S. for its cross-division energy & power unit.

Since joining HDI Global in August 2024, Aguiar has served as a key contact for U.S. brokers, enhancing the company’s global positioning in the energy & power space. Aguiar has over 26 years of experience in the insurance industry, with a strong focus on the energy and power sectors across Latin America and the U.S.
